Market-Leading Canter Gets Tipper Upgrade

April 7, 2019

With FUSO Canter leading the light truck market for a second consecutive year, Fuso NZ has further strengthened the range with a key upgrade to its 816 Canter Tipper model.

FUSO Canter remains New Zealand’s top-selling light truck in 2018, retaining the title it earned last year with 301 units sold to date – and counting – from across its 50-strong range.

The diverse Canter line-up includes 4x4, AWD, crew cab, hybrid and tipper options, with a number of models requiring only a regular Class 1 licence to drive – a distinct advantage for fleet owners looking to step up from a ute without further investment in licensing.

816 Tipper upgrade

Canter Tipper shapes up as a 7.5T Wide Cab model (816) or 6T City Cab model (616) – both available with five-speed manual or FUSO’s highly efficient six-speed DUONIC AMT.

With a host of cab comforts, low tare weight, and still the only trucks in their class with a limited slip diff, these trusty tippers are proving hard to go past.

Looking to build on Canter Tipper’s growing reputation, Fuso NZ has given the 7.5T model a larger 2.4m3 body as standard, providing nearly 15% greater capacity than previously.

“This represents a small but significant value-add for our customers,” said Fuso NZ managing director Kurtis Andrews.

“Canter is already a highly-specced truck offering great value for money – something that is reflected in its status as the number one selling light truck in the country and its title of Light Truck of the Year in 2017 – but we’re all about delivering better wherever we can.”
